Accessioner/Processor

We are currently looking for a full-time specimen Accessioner/Processor in Linden, NJ. The Specimen Accessioner/Processor must maintain departmental production goals to ensure consistency in the hourly specimen flow to the labs. In this role, you will also prepare samples for shipping, ensuring they are secure during transit to the correct laboratory. You will also be responsible for handling and managing patient medical records with complete confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specimens for testing procedures or sending out to another lab for the same reasons. This includes request reviewing, accessioning, sample preparation, and specimen archiving.
  • Receive, determine, label, and process specimens as required for processing
  • Input, transcribe, and review demographics within all specimen data for the lab information system documentation
  • Recognize problems within the specimen and administer needed solutions
  • Study and learn specimen types related to client’s orders for testing
  • Adhere to and promote core values, public safety, industry-set compliance policies, and other procedures
  • Report malfunctioning workstations to management for HELP tickets
  • Disinfect the workstation before and after use
  • Identify requisitions with missing information and continually fail to download

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or an equivalent certification
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or related work environment is preferred.
  • Proficient typing and data entry skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to perform at a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to handle biological materials
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required

Physical Demands:

  • Sit continuously for 8 hours
  • May be tasked to lift, carry, and move objects around

Working Conditions:

  • Work involves contact with specimen requisitions, biohazardous fluids, and other hazardous liquids and chemicals.
  • Work may be in a fast-paced and noisy environment that sometimes includes interruptions and distractions.

Technologist

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist-Supervisor to join our growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control – Print and review all QC before submitting to the Director, ensure calibration is performed in a timely manner, review all results, perform new lot rollover on reagents and QC material, and day to day supervision of all testing personnel.
  • Competency and Training – Verify that personnel is trained and competent prior to performing testing, verify that personnel is evaluated in a timely manner, and assist in interviewing and hiring process of laboratory staff.
  • Proficiency testing – Participate in assigning PT, assist the Director with submission of PT, and investigate any unsuccessful PT.
  • Instrumentation – Possess working knowledge of instrumentation in Chemistry and Hematology, troubleshoot instrument problems, and document accordingly.

Requirements:

  • BS in Medical Technology, Certification, and at least 6 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Must meet state, local, and CLIA requirements
  • Must be able to understand and follow regulatory compliance as described in the quality system management SOP
  • Ability to navigate the computer, laboratory equipment, and internet for business use
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting

Phlebotomist, Mobile

The Mobile Phlebotomist aims to serve patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening standards. The Phlebotomist shall draw quality blood samples and/or collect other specimens while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence in the patient’s home/facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Use superior customer service, greet customers appropriately, show proper identification, and enter the home, only when told, and while wearing appropriate PPE
  • Successfully conduct drawing of blood; collect, label, and centrifuge specimens; input and record maintenance data and decontamination; and update patient information
  • Prepare the area used for collection and follow established procedures all the while, properly explain and educate the patient regarding the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required, and reduce patient anxiety before, during, and after the collection process by promoting a calm environment
  • Utilize drawing technique/s with straight and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and comply with all of the physicians’ orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
  • Review test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure accuracy
  • Store specimen samples per the required temperature, the appropriate collection containers/tubes, and the accurate labels
  • Follow specific protocol procedures for specimen transport and shipping
  • Ship specimen to the proper drop-off location
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend department training and meetings

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification or training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • Superior customer service skills, clear and audible voice, ability to show empathy, and proper level of concern and care
  • Reliable transportation with at least 4 years of licensed driving experience and possess a valid driver’s license issued in the state of residence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Can work in a flexible schedule
  • Excellent patient interaction skills both in person and by phone
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently

Other Information:

  • Successfully pass pre-employment (post-offer) drug screen and MVR

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
